About Camp #168

Chartered As a Camp of the Sons of Spanish American War Veterans (SSAWV) on Sunday, August 27th, 2006 at Cohoes, NY. The primary purpose is to perpetuate the memory of the soldiers, sailors, and marines who served the United States of America between February 15, 1898, and July 4, 1902.

Dedicated to preserving the memory of those Veterans Of New York and New England during:

The Spanish American War of 1898;

The Phillippine Insurrection of 1899-1901

and the China Relief Expedition 1900-1901.

We are Headquartered in Cohoes, Albany County, NY, But serve all of Upstate New York and Beyond.

Our Mission

Camp 168 was Organized with the intention of honoring the veterans of all wars in the name of and in honor of our forefathers who fought and died alongside the heroes of 1898-1902.

Activities of the camp include:

  • Ensuring the upkeep of all War Memorials Especially those pertaining to the Spanish American War in the Capital District area.
  • Placement of flags to honor veterans at gravesites.
  • Participation in patriotic events
  • Collection of and proper disposal of out of service American Flags
